• Beacon unfair to soldier

Your headline on that issue of the Beacon, Dec. 8, was so unfair to the fallen soldier, the military,  as well as his family. Your paper had in equal importance the Chamber of Commerce awards for the community as well as the death of an American hero.
Your layout person needs to re-evaluate the importance of a military death as opposed to some popular award that only because of our military keeping our country free are we able to even recognize those kinds of events.

  • Thank you for the Holiday Lights

The staff of the Lower Suwannee and Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuges would like to thank Toni Collins, Levy historian and all her friends at the Cedar Key Historical Society who helped make last Saturday’s Holiday Light such a spectacular success.  Such partnerships to celebrate priceless historic treasures in our community as the Cedar Key Light Station were meant to be.

  • Children embody spirit of season

Today I saw the heart and soul of our community — the children of Cedar Key. Something that cannot be described but cherished. They seemed bewildered at first by the chance to do something special for those that care for them.
But their innocent spirit of giving should be our example of the season we so enjoy.

  • An open response to Ada Lang:

Due to a complaint by a neighbor, we have recently been issued a citation by the City of Cedar Key under the "Nuisance Animals" section of the Laws of Cedar Key.

  • Extremely unfortunate and uncomfortable

The TNR program in Cedar Key has been the subject of several letters, especially Dec. 1 in the Beacon, and if you are a Facebook fan, in many posts.

  • Not in my back yard

I live next to the Bauer property and want to clarify a couple items for the people who have written in support of the TNR program, believe there is a push to shut it down and do not want that to happen.

  • Appropriate representation for taxes paid

Levy County District One Taxpayers are still without representation on the County Commission Board. We continue to pay taxes, but are not represented.

  • Giving thanks

With this being Thanksgiving week, I always take the time and reflect back and think of all the things that I am truly thankful for.

  • Fan of cat program

Hello, I just wanted to say how wonderful the TNR program in Cedar Key is.

  • Disappointed
