    The collective hearts of many men and a couple women in Cedar Key went pitter-pat on Friday when they realized that the Marina parking lot behind the fire house was full of about 50 pristine, restored vintage cars.

    The Summer Arts Program at the Cedar Key Arts Center and Cedar Key Pottery have joined together in an effort to raise money for local Levy County residents. The food pantry in Cedar Key will be the beneficiary of the fundraiser.

    C. C. of Cedar Key writes: “I wrote to you last month about being able to drive my golf cart around the city of Cedar Key without a driver’s license even though my license was suspended, and you told me I couldn’t because it was a motor vehicle and I had to have a valid driver’s license. If that’s true, why do I see kids who don’t have licenses driving golf carts all over the place? If they can do it, why can’t I?”

  • FWC asks fishermen to report giant tiger prawn catch

    The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is asking fishermen to be on the lookout for nonnative giant tiger prawn (Penaeus monodon) after a recent sighting in East Bay near Panama City.

    Robert Goodlett, a native Floridian from Miami, began painting as a child and was inspired by the natural beauty in the area, including the Everglades, Atlantic beaches and exotic sunsets.
