    The Cedar Key Arts Center welcomes internationally known artist, Carroll Swayze, for a reception on Friday, April 8 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Swayze was chosen as this year's Seahorse Key Artist in Residence and the show will feature her work created and inspired by her time in the lighthouse on Seahorse Key.

    The Cedar Key School junior and senior classes took a field trip to the Central Florida Community College of Ocala on Friday, April 1st. They were taking a look into the criminal justice system and the police academy. It was a day full of information on how to get into the different programs and seeing what they were all about.

    Food distribution

    On Tuesdays The Children’s Table truck will be parked at First Baptist Church, 749 2nd St., at noon for as long as they have food to give, approximately an hour or so

    Anyone is welcome! They ask for a suggested donation of $3.50, but they do not require it, just a hug or handshake will do. The donations help them to pay for fuel to service so many areas.

  • Roads to get needed attention

    Alice Lalonde, office manager for the Levy County Road Department showed up with a whopping 140 pages of work for the County Commission on Tuesday, but they were happy to approve everything she asked for.

    Why? “Well that usually means there's funding for the projects,” said Fred Moody, county coordinator. While the money may not arrive in the next year, it means the projects are to be done.

    This is a photo of the print which was created by Diana Tonnessen, who hand carves a linoleum block and prints on archival paper.

    This image is used extensively for promotion of the 52nd Annual Old Florida Celebration of the Arts in Cedar Key which will be held April 9 & 10 from 10 am until 5 pm.  

  • Art opening for “It’s a Guy Thing”

    Join in the fun Saturday evening, April 2, from 5 to 7 at the opening of “It’s A Guy Thing!” in the Main Gallery at the Cedar Key Arts Center.

    April’s invitational exhibit will feature the creations of some of the artful men of Cedar Key including Christian Harkness, Kevin Hipe, Mike Leiner, Richard Levine, Gene Rantz, Chick Schwartz, and Russ Weaver. The show includes sculpture, painting, photography and mixed media and runs through the month of April at the Cedar Key Arts Center, 457 2nd Street, Cedar Key.
