LARC vs. political candidates softball challenge

-A A +A

You see their names all over Levy County, but do you know the faces of the many people who are running for political office?
The Levy Association for Retarded Citizens has planned a showcase for the candidates to introduce themselves at an invitational softball challenge.
The LARC softball team has invited all candidates running for political office to a face-off two-inning softball game. A second game will be played by two teams made up of political candidates picked at random to play against each other in a three-inning face off.
In 2008, the LARC team took the Politicians by a score of 4-3. When asked about LARC’s chance to maintain its record, Executive Director Betty Walker declared, “My team has it in the bag!”
This fun and festive event will be held Saturday, June 23, at Strickland Park in Chiefland. The gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the games start at 7 p.m.
Admission is $1 per person.
LARC also will offer everyone a chance to win a “Cedar Key Getaway for Two.” The package includes a three day/two nights in a waterfront motel, dinner for two, all day golf cart rental, boat tour of the islands and admission to the Cedar Key Historical Society and Florida State Museums.
In true baseball spirit, LARC will offer for sale hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, watermelon and sodas.
So, round up your family and friends, bring your lawn chairs and come on out for an evening of fun. This is not a political rally.
All proceeds benefit the Levy Association for Retarded Citizens. For more information, please call LARC at 486-4293.
