The Cedar Key and Chiefland girls’ hoops squads met for a closely-fought game last Thursday in the CKS gym, as the Lady Indians eked out the Lady Sharks 28-27 in overtime as part of the local Summer League Basketball season. The league features teams made of players from 12 area schools, including Trenton, Williston and Newberry. Cedar Key borrowed some players from the Branford squad because a banquet scheduled that night left the Lady Sharks shorthanded.

CKS faced Fort White Monday at P.K. Yonge School in Gainesville, and takes on Keystone Heights in Branford at 5 p.m. Thursday. The league holds up to six games a day at the selected school site. The Lady Sharks are scheduled to play at Williston 5 p.m. Monday, June 26, against Newberry, before the season wraps up at Gainesville-Buchholz on June 29. The Lady Sharks are expected to play Branford at 4 p.m. in the finale.
