BACK Fighting Cancer golf tourney
The Swinging for a Cure golf tournament is being replaced by a new tournament,  the BACK Fighting Cancer golf tournament to be held at the Chiefland Golf and Country Club.
Proceeds will benefit BACK Fighting Cancer which in turn supports families in the Tri-County area who have a child who has been diagnosed with cancer.

Grief Support Group
Haven Hospice will hold a Grief Support Group for all interested persons at Christ Episcopal Church, SR24 and 5th St., Cedar Key, on Wednesday, June 13, from 6 - 7 p.m.  Call 352-328-9848 for more information.

Volunteer Advocates Needed
Florida’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program needs volunteers to join its corps of dedicated advocates who protect the rights of elders who live in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and adult family care homes. The program’s local councils are seeking additional volunteers to identify, investigate and resolve residents’ concerns.  Special training and certification is provided.
All interested individuals who care about protecting the health, safety, welfare and rights of long-term care facility residents — who often have no one else to advocate for them — are encouraged to call toll-free 1-888-831-0404 or visit the program’s website at http://ombudsman.myflorida.com.

July 16

Summer art teachers needed
The Cedar Key Arts Guild’s Summer Art Program Coordinators are wondering if there is anyone among you who might be interested in teaching a 2 1/2 hour (9-11:30 a.m.) workshop to children (either elementary or secondary level or both groups at different times) during the weeks of July 16-27. We still have six time slots to fill (three teachers if they will do both groups) and there is a small stipend involved.
Please call Donna Bushnell for more information on how to be a part of this fun opportunity.  Donna can be reached at 352-493-1807.
