Chiefland Centennial celebration

The city will celebrate the 100th year of its boundaries being laid out by the Chiefland Development Company. A parade, fireworks show, festival, and various contests are planned.

Bicycle ride for education

A bicycle ride on the Chiefland and Tri-County greenway trails will benefit the Levy County Schools Foundation. Registration will be at Chiefland Shopping Center, 102 N. Main St./U.S. Highway 19/98,  Chiefland. The designated ride is up to 48 miles long, with the option 

to ride as little or as much as you want. There will be stops at Fanning Springs, Old Town and Cross City with large food and beverage provisions until noon.

Levy Fair dates

The Levy County Fair will be April 11-14 at the Williston Airport Industrial Park,  across from the Williston Horseman’s Park. Visit www.LevyCountyFair.com to learn about the events and enter the contests.

Little Miss and Miss Levy County

The Little Miss and Miss Levy County Fair Queen pageants will be held Sunday, April 14 at 6 p.m. at the Fairgrounds in Williston.  

To participate in the Little Miss Levy County Fair Queen pageant a contestant must be between 4 – 8 years of age.  

The Miss Levy County Fair Queen pageant is for young ladies 15 – 18 years of age.   All contestants must reside in or attend school in Levy County.  The Fair’s goal is to have contestants from every city in Levy County.  

The deadline to make application is April 5.

The  Levy County Farm Bureau is accepting applications for our 2013 Academic & Career/Technical Scholarships Award.  Deadline for getting applications in is 5 p.m. For more information, call 352-493-4780.

Annual Antique Car Show at Ayers

The 21st Annual Antique Car Show at Ayers Health & Rehab Center returns from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 606 N.E. 7th St., Trenton.  The Suwannee River Early Ford V-8 Club, with Ayers Health & Rehabilitation Center hosts the show of cars from 1988 and older.  Registration prior to April 16 is $12 per car. The day of show fee is $15 per car.

Phones for Earth Day campaign

Bring to the Faraway Inn as many used phones, used iPads, spent inkjet cartridges as you can. Let your family and friends know, post a notice and a box at your business for collections. Be part of saving our Earth.

Need some assistance getting started, call Doreen Bauer at 543-8083 and ask how you can  help our Cedar Key Sharks win big this year.

Faraway Inn will then mail them in to Phoneraiser by April 30. Funds received will be forwarded to the Cedar Key School PTO Fund-raising Scholarship Program. Save the earth and make money for the Sharks.




Knitters, crocheters gather

The Kona Joe's knitting club meets every Friday at 3 p.m. on the deck of the eatery on State Road 24 in Cedar Key. It's free and all knitters are welcome.


Yoga and Pilates at the Library

Intermediate Yoga (CDs, some yoga experience helpful, free), Mon., Weds. and Friday, 8-9:30 a.m. at the CK Library.

Pilates (intermediate, free) - Tuesdays and Thursdays 8-8:30 a.m. at the CK Library.
