Chiefland Rotary Fishing Tournament

On Saturday May 20, 2017 from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Chiefland Rotary Club held its 13th Annual Fishing Tournament in the scenic city of Cedar Key, FL.  The weather for this annual fundraising event was beautiful and the event was safe and successful.  A total of 61 boats had registered to participate in the event.

The weigh in for this event was held in City Park from 2-4 p.m.  Music, a trio of delicious fish dips with crackers, and cold drinks were available to those awaiting the tournament results. A raffle featuring a highly coveted “Coarsey” cooler was held before the winners were announced. The main prize categories were Redfish, Trout, spots on the Redfish, and overall Bag for the tournament and the Calcutta fundraisers.  Bags were allowed 1 Redfish and a maximum of 5 trout.

Money raised by this event goes back into local community projects that benefit members of the community.  It was a beautiful day and a wonderful way to help the community.

Shane Jenkins was recognized for the most “Spots” on Redfish caught in the tournament.
