The April 25 Lions Club meeting was a milestone in Club history when five new members, all from the community, were inducted as members of Lions Clubs International.

Lions Frank Wellinger, Maureen Dragonetti, Greg Harrington, Marsha Harrington and Gini Barss joined more than 1.4 million members in 46,000 Lions Clubs around the world.

Past District Governor Lion Tony Stefanowicz administered the Lions Oath and welcomed the new members. Stefanowicz, an officer in Alachua’s Turkey Creek Lions Club and former Lion of the Year has traveled the world in support of the Lions motto “We Serve.”

More than 20 members and guests attended the meeting and new member induction ceremony.

Five more new members are slated for induction into the Cedar Key Lions Club at upcoming membership meetings.

Club President Dale Register remarked, “Tonight is a very, very significant evening for the Cedar Key Lions Club. Welcoming more than 10 new members to our Club, Five this evening and five more over next few months, underscores our commitment to community service right here in Cedar Key.”
