Artist of the month Virginia Stevenson dazzles with fabric

The February Artist of the Month at the Cedar Keyhole is Virginia Stevenson. Virginia is a textile artist who specializes in colorful dyed and painted silk. She makes scarves, tunics, skirts and blouses from her dyed and painted silk.


Additionally, Virginia makes both large and humongous banners of silk and her silk quilts are works of art.

In addition to dying and painting silk, Virginia dyes shirts for adults and children, makes purses, glasses and cellphone holders, journal covers and ornaments. She also knits hats and scarves. Virginia has been a Keyhole co-op artist for 19 years where she has exhibited her talent and creativity.

The Cedar Keyhole is a 23-artist co-op which has been in business in Cedar Key for 48 years, providing a venue for scores of regional artists to exhibit and sell their art. It survived the flooding caused by Hurricane Hermine and is open for business.

The Keyhole is located on historic Second Street in Cedar Key, a community famous for its dedication to the arts, its clamming industry and its thriving eco-tourism. The Keyhole is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., closing its doors only on Thanksgiving and Christmas days.
