  • Anglers can help FWCwith snapper...

Biologists with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s (FWC) Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) request angler assistance with a research project focusing on red snapper caught in Florida offshore waters. This project will provide fisheries researchers and managers with vital catch-and-release survival information needed for assessing the status of this important recreational fishery.

  • Gettin’ back to fishin’ after...

Hey everybody, sorry for missing last week. I spent most of the week out of town and not on the water. A fishing report that is made up, not really my style.

This week I was able to wet a boat four days. I went to the Waccassassa River one day, Horseshoe Beach one day and the Suwannee River and my backyard good ol’ Cedar Key.

  • Cedar Key, home of the ‘Hazwoper’

Cedar Key is now the home of the Hazwoper. What-woper? HAZWOPER - Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response.

  • School’s out, fishin’s on, dad’s...

Well everyone, school’s out. Teacher let the Captain’s fishing buddies out.

  • NFL’s Johnson on tap for...

Chiefland High's football program will welcome back one of its most famous alums when Jarret Johnson takes part in the Suwannee All-Skillz Camp on July 9 at the school.

  • GTO Airboat Tournament - a local...

The GTO Airboat 13th Annual Fishing Tournament was held in Cedar Key last Saturday, May 21 and three local men won as the third place redfish team. They were the renowned fishing guide, Lloyd Collins and his novice fishing partners, Greg Lang and Bob Hudson.

It was a fun event and the GTO folks did a nice job. There were many nice prizes and lots of good food and fellowship. Most impressive was the GTO’s insistence that boaters idle their airboats when close to the public beach and shore, so as not to disturb people.

  • Having great family fun

Hope everybody had a great and safe Memorial Day.

My weekend started off kinda busy but slid right into some really needed family fun with the boys and my wife. I have been doing nothing but working lately, so the time was a must and it was awesome. Being from the walk of life that I'm from work during holiday weekends just kinda always happens.  This time I had a fall through deal and Sunday was fun day. Ha ha.

  • Now's the time to fish...

Folks, the news for the week is awesome Spotted Seatrout action. I mean good and it will do nothing but get better,  for the next month.

All of our flats are alive and well. The grass has begun to grow back. The bait schools are moving in and the trout are really happy about it. When the trout are happy, our clients are happy. When our clients are happy, our town is busy and well, I think we all know were this is going. Without a happy town, my boat payments don’t get paid. So all’s well at this point.

  • Captain Danny Allen's...

I came back home this week. I know that sounds funny but, that's what it feels like, ‘cause I go to the fish. I spent the last two months spread out from Suwannee to Horseshoe Beach and the latest was Waccasassa Bay. These winters put a huge whoopin’ on the fish in Cedar Key.

  • Late start but lots of keepers

I wanna take this very moment to say, “man, it’s great to live in Florida.” We have the gators, great fishing, super weather. There's some things I'm not sure about but these are sure bets.

We had a really tough tide this weekend but I had two half-day trips Saturday with some very cool new clients and some ol’ local folks  and did a lil’ pre-fishing Sunday afternoon. All I have to say is, if anyone says to you that high pressure and blue bird skies won't shut down a bite…..well, it will.
