  • Now's the time to fish bottom line

    Folks, the news for the week is awesome Spotted Seatrout action. I mean good and it will do nothing but get better,  for the next month. 

    All of our flats are alive and well. The grass has begun to grow back. The bait schools are moving in and the trout are really happy about it. When the trout are happy, our clients are happy. When our clients are happy, our town is busy and well, I think we all know were this is going. Without a happy town, my boat payments don’t get paid. So all’s well at this point.

  • Captain Danny Allen's Fishing Report

    I came back home this week. I know that sounds funny but, that's what it feels like, ‘cause I go to the fish. I spent the last two months spread out from Suwannee to Horseshoe Beach and the latest was Waccasassa Bay. These winters put a huge whoopin’ on the fish in Cedar Key.

  • Late start but lots of keepers

    I wanna take this very moment to say, “man, it’s great to live in Florida.” We have the gators, great fishing, super weather. There's some things I'm not sure about but these are sure bets. 
    

    We had a really tough tide this weekend but I had two half-day trips Saturday with some very cool new clients and some ol’ local folks  and did a lil’ pre-fishing Sunday afternoon. All I have to say is, if anyone says to you that high pressure and blue bird skies won't shut down a bite…..well, it will.

    Happy New Year everybody. I hope everybody had a safe and happy holiday season. Now it's time to return to reality — back to work, back to the grind.

    We had a couple of trips this weekend never really doing much, fishing real hard and boating a fish here and there. The best way to describe fishing right now "wishy washy." I took a group of kinda local boys out of Fenimore Mill condos Saturday. We fished pretty hard and got one nice redfish and few bites. But we never figured things out, so we headed in early to catch the Gators playing football.

  • Winter time is the best time to visit the Refuge

    Cedar Key resident, Bob Hudson recently visited the Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge with a friend - in an attempt to hunt hogs. While they didn’t shoot any hogs, Hudson did shoot some really interesting photographs.

    Well my goodness I hate to beat the dead horse, but this weather is awesome!
    I fished four days last week and every day was one to remember. I made my pro redfish circuit debut last Saturday up a rocks toss away from the Georgia border and the St. Mary's River in a town called Fernandina Beach.
    It is a very small, very classy town. It has it own little unique charm like our own. People were nice and all the old buildings with new age businesses were cool. We had dinner in a small, two-story Victorian-style building that served Italian and it was good!!!

  • Fishing: Ready for the red fish

    OK! Holy cow! Our redfishing is good right now.
    It's the fall, the water's cooling a little, the spawners are doing their thing, and me and my customers love it.
    I had few new groups this week which is always good. I fished a really nice couple from out at the Cedar Key RV grounds. They were from Mississippi. First time ever visiting Cedar Key.
