  • Florida’s harassing telephone call statute

    M. T. of Fowler’s Bluff asks, “I have an ex-boyfriend who is so angry at me because I broke up with him, and put him out of my house, that he keeps calling me and calling me and won’t stop. He leaves nasty messages on my answer machine, too. Is there anything I can do to stop him?”

    Dear M.T.:

The joy that a pet can bring is unlike any other. However, there comes a time in everyone’s life when having a pet is no longer a feasible option. Because of this, Haven Hospice has created a pet therapy program. Through this program, inpatients are still able to experience the joy that only a pet can bring.

  • Thank you from Margy VanLandingham

I would like to say thank you to the many people who were so helpful and supportive in my recent campaign for City Commission here in Cedar Key, prominently my campaign workers and those who voted for me, but also a thank you to all of the folks who just voted.
And yes, I lost by 117 votes, but let that not be interpreted as some landslide victory for the loyal opposition. Had only 59 of those 117 voters cast their ballot for me instead of the incumbent, the final tally would have been VanLandingham 141, Dennison 140.

  • Thank You from Scott Dennison

I sincerely want to thank everyone who participated in our May 8th City of Cedar Key elections.
Thank you for the privilege of serving as your City Commissioner for another term. Continuing the strong partnerships of residents, businesses and our local service organizations, we will deal with the challenges brought on by a tighter economy here in Levy County. Together we will find answers to improve the quality of our lives in beautiful Cedar Key. It is my goal to balance our community needs with the resources we have.

  • Social Security questions and answers

    By Kay Louder

    Question:
Do Members of Congress have to pay into Social Security?
    Answer:

Yes, they do. Members of Congress, the President and Vice President, federal judges, and most political appointees, have paid taxes into the Social Security program since January 1984. They pay into the system just like everyone else, no matter how long they have been in office. Learn more about Social Security benefits at www.socialsecurity.gov.
