I watched with interest the truck drivers in England who protested the high price of diesel fuel in front of Parliament last week. They were complaining about the eight dollars a gallon they were paying to keep their trucks running. And we thought diesel fuel was high in this country.

European gasoline is nearly as expensive, too, making their gas prices more than double what we are paying.

Interesting that the Euro-dollar is worth more than the American dollar, which means they are paying nearly three times what we are paying for fuel, and we're complaining?

We can all learn some very valuable lessons from young anglers. I took two young and energetic anglers fishing last week and they reminded me of some very important parts of fishing.

Lesson one: Every cast is exciting. This is a great sport and when you are positive, every cast has the potential to be the one that catches the trophy, even the last cast of the day. Just chunk it on out there and keep your eyes glued to the bobber and eventually it will go down. Then reel like there is no tomorrow. It's great fun.

A few people I work with are computer illiterate. That's not a good thing because the work we do requires using computers almost exclusively.

Now days most everything is Microsoft. The world seems to evolve around Microsoft software programs, with the standard being Microsoft Office.

It is that time of the week again when pen hits paper, black hits white, and what appears is a column, an article, for the Cedar Key Beacon. Father's Day is near, and this week I intended to do a piece on that, jogging memories of Dad. Something else happened. My thoughts went another way.
