  • Health programs at CK Library

    The Cedar Key Public Library will host four special "Healthy Cedar Key" days this month, beginning this today, Nov. 5. Representatives of various health and social services agencies will be present to give information, answer questions and help with applications. Anyone with concerns in any of these areas is encouraged to come for information and one-on-one conversation. The following is a brief look at those who will attend, realizing that some schedules may change and others may be present, as well.

  • School Foundation's Beast Feast Saturday

    The Levy County Schools Foundation will be hosting its 5th Annual Beast Feast on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Etheridge Cracker House, NE 140th Avenue, Williston. Gate opens at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will begin being served at 6 p.m. An interesting selection of specialties like gator tail, possum ribs and venison along with some good old-fashioned southern classics like mullet, grits and swamp cabbage will be served up by Levy County’s very own businesses, politicians and community groups. There will be something for every taste.

    Artist of the Month
    The Cedar Keyhole’s Artist of the Month for October is Sheila Thomas. Thomas is represented in the gallery in several mediums – photography, pottery, cast paper ornaments and notepads, fabric bookmarks and flowers artfully created out of pine cones and brightly painted. Her photographs are of Cedar Key scenes and wildlife, including the once iconic “honeymoon cottage” which is now just four pilings in the water.

  • Airport to get a patch - after bridges are replaced

    The main runway for the George T. Lewis Airport in Cedar Key is going to get a little facelift that county officials hope will hold it until two bridges leading to the airport can be fixed and a concrete runway can be constructed.
