New tour will offer spirited adventure

Debbie Dye has been collecting Cedar Key ghost stories for four years. She was inspired to do the tours by a haint mistress and retired history teacher in Virginia. According to UrbanDictionary.com, “haint” is a Southern colloquialism for a ghost, apparition or lost soul.

Commission OKs solar panel agreement

The Cedar Key Commission was short two commissioners Tuesday night, but they wrapped up business in less than 30 minutes.

Commissioners Sue Colson, Gene Hodges and Dale Register voted to accept the procurement agreement required by the governor’s Energy Office. It was drawn up in April but never voted on by the commission. Mayor Heath Davis and Commissioner Scott Dennison were absent.

Student volunteers educate through recycling and parading efforts

At the recent Seafood Festival, 13 Cedar Key students volunteered to monitor the three recycling/trash sites that were set up in the city park to maximize the capture rate of all recyclables.
