  • Wild Hog pays off big

    The 37th Annual Wild Hog Canoe and Kayak Race -- put together as a charity event for Levy ARC, pulled in a record-breaking $16,150 this year, beating last year's record of $11,600.

  • Cedar Key High School Graduation 2014

    Cedar Key High School will be holding its commencement exercises on Saturday, May 31, beginning at 9 a.m. in the school's gymnasium.

  • Refuge continues to fund science study

    Once again, the US Fish and Wildlife Service van pulled-up to the doors of Cedar Key School to fulfill the wish list of science teacher Raymond Powers. Box after box was unloaded from the Lower Suwannee & Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge van and piled onto a cart by Powers and his students.
    All this study and research equipment, along with an earlier delivery in November, is the result of a grant written and submitted by Refuge Ranger Pam Darty, a former Florida teacher.

  • Senecal receives Lions' top honor

    Roland Senecal, of the Cedar Key Lions Club, has been named a Melvin Jones Fellow by Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) in recognition of his commitment to serving the world community. Named for the founder of Lions Clubs International, Melvin Jones, the fellowship is one of the foundation’s highest recognitions – honoring the commitment to humanitarian service.

  • Ron Black named Volunteer of the Tear

      Once again, after donating over 500 hours during the calendar year, Ron Black, volunteer caretaker of Shell Mound, is Volunteer of the Year at Lower Suwannee and Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuges for the third year in a row. You could say Black is a workaholic, because he can’t just kick-back and enjoy retirement.

    CKS exam schedule

    Cedar Key School’s year is almost over, and summer is just around the corner. Exams mark the end of the school year and the beginning of summer for all middle and high school students. End of the year exams begin June 3 and end June 6. Exam days are early release school days with the exception of June 3. If a student is exempt from a certain exam, they are not required to attend that class period.
    Tuesday, June 3: 7th period exam
