Playground fund-raiser a success

The next fundraiser for the playground will be a Pie and Dessert Auction held on March 20 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.

The Pie and Dessert Auction follows the Clam/Oyster dinner held last Friday night, which was a huge success!

Over $3,500 was raised, all of which goes to the playground fund.

The Clam and Oysterman's Association generously donated and cooked their seafood, and the school lunchroom ladies made the side dishes and helped with serving the dinners.

Not with a bang, but with a cheerful wave goodbye.

In a non-agenda item that found its way before Cedar Key's City Commission Tuesday, commissioners learned that the Local Planning Agency, long led by local builder Greg Lang, will dissolve itself as soon as an ordinance can be written to do so. An LPA is a citizen advisory board charged with the responsibility to propose and review changes to the comprehensive plan and regulating land use.

In the summer of 2001, our move to Cedar Key was much like what most preacher families go through around the country. All our belongings, which consists of way too many books, periodicals, old sermon outlines along with our household goods and personal belongings were loaded on a rental truck. Some last minute items were packed in the car that was on a trailer pulled behind the truck.

Engine oil, also called, motor oil, is used to produce a lubricating film on the moving parts of an engine. But what is the best oil to use for your particular engine?

You might say Castrol, Valvoline, or maybe even Quaker State is the best oil for your `old Nelly. And true, it is wise to select a name brand oil. But what's really important here is whether the specifications of that oil are right for your car or not.
