    The Levy County Tourist Development Council will be holding its bi-monthly meeting on Thursday, Jan 26, at 6 p.m. at the Levy County Visitors Bureau, 620 N. Hathaway Ave., Bronson.

  • State gives LIFE new life

    The last time Cedar Key School students participated in the state's Learning in Florida’s Environment (LIFE) program, they did so with the help of the Cedar Key Energy Advisory Panel and Suwannee River Water Management District.
    Today, when 50 students participate in a second LIFE program it will be with state funding. That's because an agreement with the state Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Environmental Education will establish the state’s 18th Learning in Florida’s Environment (LIFE) Program site in Levy County.

  • City concerned about EMS presence

    Cedar Key City Commissioners raised the concern of ambulances not always being available to citizens at its Jan. 17 meeting.
    Volunteer Fire and Rescue Chief Robert Robinson said, “The Med 5 ambulance, stationed just outside the No. 4 Bridge in Cedar Key, is called repeatedly to stage in Otter Creek, and there are multiple times when an ambulance is not available throughout Levy County for several hours.”

  • Early voting begins in GOP presidential primary

     Early voting for the GOP presidential primary started at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Supervisor of Elections office in Bronson. It will continue through Saturday, Jan. 28.

    There are 8,457 registered Republicans in Levy County eligible to vote in the presidential primary. There is no Democratic primary as incumbent President Barack Obama has no challengers.
