    Taser case resolution approved by commissioners

    The City Of Cedar Key approved a resolution Tuesday night “authorizing a negotiated settlement agreement, post mediation and the execution of documents required to effectuate the settlement, for the City of Cedar Key and Michael Cosseboom with Danny Beckham in the case styled Beckham V. The City of Cedar Key.”

    On Saint Patrick’s Day, Wednesday March 17, The Woman’s Club of Cedar Key celebrated its 50th year of service to our community. 

    The Community Center was packed to capacity for the Club’s 4th annual Luncheon and Fashion Show.

    Jane Moore welcomed everyone and led the introductions for a short program that highlighted some of the Woman’s Club current community projects.

  • Driver's license requirements change

     There was a time when passing written, eye and driving tests were all you needed to be a legal Florida driver. These days you have to have concrete proof of who you are.

    As of Jan. 1, new requirements went into effect for anyone renewing or getting a new driver’s license, and it’s caused a few headaches for those issue the licenses.

  • New Chamber plans Welcome Center

    A Cedar Key Welcome Center is back in the works. The Community Redevelopment Board decided Tuesday to reopen the process to convert the empty Creswell House, located next to the Library, into a visitors information hub.  The move came at the request of the newly elected Chamber of Commerce President Tina Ryan and the Board of Directors.  “As you may remember, in years past the Chamber worked hand-in-hand with the City when the City housed us in the old library.

    Florida’s Nature Coast Conservancy (FNCC) was founded in Cedar Key  by Captain Rob Crane and the founding board of directors in 1993. It is a non-profit corporation in Florida and an IRS 501c3 designated land trust. As a land trust its business is to own land in trust for preservation, conservation and or public recreation.The FNCC also encourages and assists local governments; as well as other land trusts in the acquisition and preservation of environmentally endangered lands suitable for recreation, preservation or conservation.
