Cedar Key man dies in hunting accident

A Cedar Key man was killed in a hunting incident near Rosewood Saturday evening, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) investigators.

John Freddrick Alford, 63, was hunting hogs with a juvenile on private property off State Road 24 in Rosewood.

Rip currents, marine warnings include Levy County

TALLAHASSEE – There will be a high risk of rip currents from Levy to Monroe counties, in the Penhandle from Escambia to Gulf counties; and on the Atlantic Coast from Volusia to Martin counties, according to the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM).

Officials are asking residents and visitors to stay alert and use caution at the beach.
