 Warnings have been issued for flooding along the Suwannee River in Levy County as a result of spring rains farther north at the waterway's headlands.

Levy County boat ramps along the Suwannee will close at dusk Saturday, said Levy County Coordinator Freddie Moody. Moody also said Gov. Charlie Crist has included Levy County in a declaration of an emergency for areas affected by the flooding.

It’s a story right off the national news: Homeowners fighting to prevent foreclosure on their property ask a lender to produce the original promissory note in legal proceedings.

But in Levy County, it is the estate of Kathryn F. Causey, an accountant who died in January 2008, that is trying to stave off foreclosure by having the lender produce the promissory note.

As part of the planning for the proposed Phase II Streets and Utilities program the Cedar Key Water & Sewer District and Cedar Key Community Redevelopment Agency are cooperating to perform inspections and testing of the downtown sewer system.

A detailed video inspection and smoke testing of the sewer system in the downtown area of Cedar Key is scheduled to start on March 9. Technicians from Altair Environmental Group of Longwood Florida will be working in Cedar Key approximately three to four weeks performing various inspections and tests to the sewer system.

Excitement is in the air once again as Cedar Key prepares to transform into an open air gallery of art on April 18th and 19th when the Chamber of Commerce presents the 45th annual Old Florida Celebration of the Arts. Artists will line Historic Second Street from 10am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday. These fine artists and fine craftsmen will show off their paintings, jewelry, pottery, sculptures, photography, and much more! Over $10,000 will be awarded to artists and their ribbons will be on display Sunday.
