  • Six more caught in second sweep

    On Saturday evening, Aug. 5, and into Sunday, the Levy County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit and Uniformed Patrol Division continued high intensity narcotic interdiction in the Cedar Key/Rosewood area. K-9 Supervisor Sgt. Kevin Kinik with his partner, Zombie, and Deputy Gary Garboski with his partner, Molly, along with multiple patrol deputies made six additional arrests Saturday and Sunday in the sheriff office’s continued drug interdiction efforts.

  • LCSO arrests 3 in first drug sweep

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force and Uniformed Patrol Division conducted a targeted drug enforcement operation Thursday, Aug. 3, in the Rosewood/Cedar Key area which began Wednesday evening and continued into Thursday morning.

    Citizens who reside in these areas of the county have filed complaints of recent drug activity in their neighborhoods and Sheriff Bobby McCallum answered their call.

  • New FHP troop commander first female named to post

    The Florida Highway Patrol is proud to announce the appointment of Maj. Eileen Powell to the position of Troop Commander. Her promotion became effective June 16, 2014.

    Powell is the first woman to hold this esteemed position in North Florida and will oversee approximately 101 State Troopers and 10 non-sworn employees.

    Troop B consists of nine counties including: Alachua, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Marion and Suwannee.

    • July 19, Pavel Beno, 48, Williston, four counts aggravated assault. Bond $100,000.

    • July 14, James Virgill Boatwright Sr., 50, Chiefland resisting officer W/OV. Bond $550.

    • July 15, Alex Hernandez, 44, Archer, VOP.

    • July 16, Coleman Wesley Jordon, 34, Chiefland, warrant. Bond $50,000.

    • July 14, Tammy Kerr, 40, Chiefland, DWLSR. Bond $1,000.

    Throughout the Levy County Department of Public Safety (LCDPS) Firefighter I class, students will complete several drills.
