  • Cedar Key graduate

    Savannah Beckham Clark graduated from the College of Central Florida Adult Education Program on July 14.  She was one of 21 who received their Florida High School Diploma in ceremonies at Usher Center in Chiefland.
    Her instructors said she is a fast-track student who took the GED almost immediately upon entering.  
    She hopes to attend college soon.

  • Salaries highest percentage of school board budget

        Concerns were raised last week by a Levy County School Board member regarding a high percentage of the budget going to salaries but the explanation seemed to satisfy the board.
        Robert Philpot, a former Williston Ag teacher and the newest member, said that almost 70 percent for salaries seemed disproportionate to him and asked for an explanation of that line item in the 2011/2012 proposed budget.

  • FFA Banquet honors local students and benefits FFA

    Surprise donations of $1,000 fell into the coffers of Cedar Key School’s FFA program at their banquet on May 26.

    A year of hard work ended in a celebration of students, teachers, families and friends as the school's cafeteria and auditorium was filled with great food and roaring applause.

    Cedar Key property owner, Linda Marie Brandt-Statham owns a a vacant canal front lot on Whiddon Avenue, that she would like to donate to the school district.

    Cats with giant talons, Egyptian Sarcophagus, ceremonial masks and self portraits were just a few of the wide varieties of arts on display at the Arts Center. It wasn't just the imagination of the artists that wowed the 30 or so people came appreciate the work, it was the age of the artists - all students of Cedar Key School.
