  • Allen, Kirkbride bring home state FFA award

    Ashlyn Allen and MacKenzie Kirkbride are the newest members of the Cedar Key FFA chapter to bring home a state champion FFA trophy.
    The dynamic duo earned first place state honors in the Marketing Division of the FFA Ornamental Horticulture Demonstration contest. The state OH Demo contest was held at the University of Florida last month.

    Middle School Survivor Day

    Every year, the middle school teachers host a Behavioral Reward Day for the students who have stayed out of trouble all year long. The day’s events are based off of the popular TV show “Survivor”.
    The activities include, dividing into tribes, painting faces, racing, puzzles, scavenger hunts, and challenges of all kinds. This year’s Survivor Day will be held on Tuesday, May 29.

    Students rush to defeat end of course exams

    Today, Cedar Key High School biology students will be taking the Biology End of Course Exam. The students have been cramming for the past two weeks with the help of Mr. Powers, the science teacher at CKS.

  • Cedar Key FFA to send five teams to state finals

    Three months of work, dozens of after-school pizzas and showing up at 4:30 a.m. to cut up fresh fruit all paid off this past week for the Cedar Key FFA chapters.
    The FFA will be sending five teams to the state Ornamental Horticulture finals later this month at the University of Florida.

    Cedar Key is on its way to the Ornamental Horticulture CDE in Mayo, Florida. The teams have been preparing for three months and all of their hard work will be put to use. Lauren Bartholemy, Laia Gore, Sarah Bartholemy, Taryn Epperson, Mikayla Pope, Jemima Cahours, MacKenzie Kirkbride, Ashlyn Allen, Taylor Davison, Nathaneal Brinkman and Brooke Allen will all be competing today.
