    Levy County teachers and staff could have a merry Christmas this year as their Dec. 20 paychecks could include a 4 percent pay raise dating back to the start of the school year and help in paying insurance premiums.

  • Clean sweep at state

    The Cedar Key FFA swept the District III Forestry Contest by winning both the high school and middle school events.

    Both teams will travel to Perry on Nov. 14-15 to compete in the state finals.

    The high school team includes: Kit Riley, Taryn Epperson, Michael Shewey and Nathanael Brinkman. The middle school team is comprised of Emilie Lavoie, Terra Dunn, Amanda Robinson and MacKenzie Kirkbride.

    The teams brought home 25 individual and team ribbons.  The team is coached by Denny Voyles, ag teacher and FFA advisor at CKS.

  • New dog project for Tri-County 4-H and FFA

     Young people ages 5-18 living in Gilchrist, Levy, and Dixie Counties are invited to participate in a new dog project and show at the Suwannee River Youth Fair.  This year, the project will focus primarily on dog obedience.  Families with interested youth are invited to attend the kick-off seminar on Monday, Oct. 28, at 6:30 p.m., at the Suwannee River Youth Fair arena in Fanning Springs.  Only youth and family members should come to this meeting.  Please leave your dogs at home.
