  • Tony’s Cedar Key Clam Chowder is Three-Time World Championship

    Tony’s Seafood Restaurant, took its third consecutive championship at the 30th annual Great Chowder Cook-Off, Saturday in Newport, R.I. The competition is considered to be the ultimate international chowder contest, and is often referred to as the “Super Bowl” of cook-offs. Event organizers said attendance was the highest they’ve seen in years, as more than 10,000 people turned out to judge the best of the best.

  • TDC to get free advice on marketing Levy County

    The good news is that the Tourism Development Council is going to get free marketing advice and planning to help them better utilize the Visit Florida website’ s services—to the benefit of all of Levy County.

    Visit Florida has chosen Levy County as their next marketing project. They will send a team to learn what the Council needs to attract tourists and how best to do it. After that is determined, they will share their plan with the board and business partners.

  • Women have place close to home for care

    Women in Levy County who dread that long ride to Gainesville for health care can save on the wear, tear and gas bill by getting care in Chiefland at a new health clinic that specializes in providing examinations, testing and treatment.

    "My slogan is health care for  women by a woman because a lot of women don't want to be seen by a man," said Nurse Practitioner Lauren Williams.

    She has opened A Woman's Place at 1415 N.W. 23rd Avenue in Chiefland. Williams is a board certified nurse practitioner.
