Federal land agencies across the country are celebrating “W50”, the fiftieth anniversary of the Wilderness Act, signed into law Sep. 3, 1964, as the result of a long fought effort to formally designate federal lands as wilderness.

The Cedar Key Library has several events on Thursday, Friday and Saturday:
Tonight: "From the Salt Marshes of the Gulf of Mexico to the Way of St. James in Spain: Living with the Characters in our Novels"
March 1, 2014, marked the beginning of the Cedar Key Lions' eighth year of Adopt-a-Highway pickup along State Route 24 entering Cedar Key.
The Lions collected 110 pounds of trash on this first quarterly outing of 2014.

“You won’t find the name of MacIvey in history books,” is, most likely, a true statement, but it’s certain the man who wrote those words is deserving of being remembered.
