    Knitting Club to resume
    The Kona Joe’s Knitting Club will resume, beginning Feb. 3.  The club meets every Friday at 4 p.m. on the deck of Kona Joe’s Island Cafe on SR 24 and 6th St.  It’s free and all knitters are welcome.

    The Cedar Key Friends of the Library have the following events scheduled:

  • Individuals interested in supporting the Kathleen Tuck memorial educational display on the horseshoe crab in Cedar Key City Park can send donations to “Memorial Fund for Kathleen Tuck” at the Drummond Community Bank in Cedar Key or by purchasing shadow boxes with crab molts (shells) available for sale at Deja Vu, 589 Second St., Cedar Key. Proceeds from the sale of the shadow boxes will help pay for the panels.
     

  • “This is our 26th annual Spaghetti Dinner, and it promises to be the best ever,” said Jane Moore, President of the Cedar Key Woman’s Club.
    Every year the Woman’s Club serves around 200 spaghetti dinners, and this is its biggest fund-raiser of the year.

  • The Cedar Key Women’s Club is fundraising for the Gainesville Fisher House.  Fisher House is a home away from home that will be built near the VA Hospital in Gainesville.  Many other states have a Fisher House, but this facility will be a place to stay for our veterans and military families receiving care at the Gainesville VA.  It will be 16,000 square feet, complete with bedrooms and living areas and kitchens on the neighboring property to the VA.  It will be available to those receiving medical care in the nearby VA facility.

    Creatively Containing The Anxiety Monster
    ATX: Alexandria Zettler
    Time: Thursday Evenings (6-7:30 p.m.),  March 1-April 5 .
    Limited to six adults (18 years and up).
    Fee: $10 Material Fee.
    Overview: This is a six-week closed art therapy group wherein the participants will explore a variety of media in order to identify feeling states and develop/discover methods for reducing feelings of anxiety. The approach is cognitive-behavioral ATx.
