  • On Saturday, Feb. 13, the Levy County Historical Society will present the second of three presentations about the Civil War in Levy County.

    The presentation is at 2 p.m. at the conference center of the Cedar Key RV Resort, 11980 S.W. Shiloh Road, Sumner.

    Everyone with an interest in the history and heritage of Levy County is invited to this free event.

    The presentation on "Salt — The Lifeline of the Confederacy" will be by Levy County Historian and author, Toni C. Collins.

    Thursday, Jan. 28 – The North Florida Marine Science Symposium and Big Bend Science Symposium will not be at the Library, but taking place at Community Center. On Thursday, the evening poster presentation, a catered event, is open to the public (with registration) and the Friday keynote presentation at 9 a.m. is open to the public. Those planning to attend the Thursday event are asked to register at sfrc.ufl.edu/nfmss.

    Caroling at United Methodist

    Feel like singing Christmas carols?  Come join us at Cedar Key United Methodist Church for a Christmas Eve Service.  Listen to organ-piano Christmas duets from 6:30-7 p.m. The service itself will begin at 7 p.m. during which there will be scripture readings and carol singing for all.

    Chamber meeting tonight

    The Greater Cedar Key Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, Dec. 17, at Steamers Clam Bar and Grill. Steamers will be providing a small buffet but anyone is welcome to bring a small covered dish to share. Please RSVP at 352-543-5600 if you plan to attend to we can have the right amount of food.

    Please remember that during the annual meeting we hold our election for next year's board members.

    The Local Mitigation Strategy Working Group will meet on Thursday, Dec. 10, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Levy County Emergency Operations Center at 7911 N.E. 90th St, Bronson. This meeting is open to the public.

    GED graduation tonight

    The College of Central Florida Levy Center will celebrate the latest graduation of students from the Adult Education Program with a diploma ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 4 from 6 to 7 p.m. in the conference room at the center.

    The Levy Center is at 114 Rodgers Boulevard/U.S. Highway 129 at U.S. Highway 19 in Chiefland.
