The fee for picking up yard waste is going up from $3.25 to $3.60 starting with January’s bill as Waste Pro takes over the pickup of clippings and debris.
The new fee was approved at the Dec. 18 meeting of the Cedar Key City Commission and represents a compromise worked out by Public Works Interim Director Robert Robinson. He said the company originally asked for $3.68 per month. The increased cost to the city will be $224 per month.
“I don’t guess you are going to get anybody to go any cheaper,” said Mayor Gene Hodges. “I believe people want the trash picked up.”
The city’s yard debris provider ended pickup on Nov. 1, forcing the city to negotiate the deal with Waste Pro.
