Woman’s Club helping to make Cedar Key a better place to live

-A A +A

The annual Art & Craft event for members of the Cedar Key Woman’s Club was on Jan. 28 and an outstanding variety of arts and crafts were presented to be judged by local talented artists including Libby Cagle, Amy Gernhardt and Ann Kamzelski.

The 44 ladies of the CKWC again showed their talents and the first place winners of the different categories will then enter the competition within District 5 at the Gainesville Woman’s Club on March 1.

The local club is part of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and is a unifying force, bringing together local women’s clubs with members dedicated to strengthening their communities and enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. With 100,000 members in affiliated clubs in every state and more than a dozen countries, GFWC members are community leaders who work locally to create global change by supporting the arts, preserving natural resources, advancing education, promoting healthy lifestyles, encouraging civic involvement and working toward world peace and understanding.

The Cedar Key Woman’s Club Art & Craft event for 2014 first place winners were:

Chris Black, Vicki Crumpley, Judy Duvall, Rosemary Danesi, Leslie George, Susan Hollandsworth, Cindy Leiner, Janet Ramsay, Donna Rogers, Susan Roquemore, Joan Selby, Eileen Senecal and Marianna Siegfried.

This event could not have taken place without the work of the committee chairwoman, Susan Hollandsworth and members of that committee:  Chris Black, Rosemary Danesi, Marie Evans, Joan Selby and Judy Treharne.

Good luck wishes go with these winners to the District 5 event in Gainesville.
