Get your engines revving for a good cause as the first City of Williston Wings and Wheels fly-in and car show zips into town March 3 as a fund-raiser for the Levy Association of Retarded Citizens (LARC).

The day starts at the Williston Municipal Airport with a fly in. All pilots who want to show off their aircraft are encouraged to attend, said one of the event organizers, Dennis Strow.

If you like having your feet on the ground, bring your classic car and showcase your pride and joy, alongside the aircraft.

At around 3 p.m., with a police escort, the cars will make their way into town in a motorcade and will end at Heritage Park where they will be on display for the next five hours.

At the park, visitors will be able to shop or visit at booths–all owned or operated by Williston merchants or members of the Williston Chamber of Commerce.

That night, sway to the tunes of Old Skool, an area band that plays a good mix of most everything.

“This is about showing off Williston,” Strow said. “It will raise money for LARC and promote the town.

“This is Hometown USA and Williston is the best kept secret around,” he said.

The event, held rain or shine, should draw in car owners for miles, Strow said.

There is no cost to participate at the park, he said. There is a $5 fee for the escorted cruise through town.  Anyone wanting to have a booth at Heritage Park should contact the chamber at 528-5552.

Registration for the car show is $15 by Feb. 22. Make checks payable to LARC and send to WPD, Attn: Car Show, 5 SW 1st Ave., Williston, FL 32696.
