Annual event draws public officials from throughout the Nature Coast

By Ada Lang

Approximately 135 hungry people from 10
North Florida counties descended upon the
Cedar Key Community Center to enjoy a dinner
hosted by Mayor Pat O’Neal, Vice-Mayor
Sue Colson and Commissioner Scott
Dennison. This is the third year the group has
met in Cedar Key for their fall quarterly board
Thursday night’s feast included steamed
clams donated and prepared by the Cedar Key
Aquaculture Association. Mullet was freshly
caught by Ken Daniels. The mullet and hush
puppies were expertly prepared by Miss
Thelma McCain. Clam chowders by Tony’s
Seafood and the Pickled Pelican, chicken
from the Cedar Key Market, pizzas from
Island Pizzaria were devoured in record time.
The table tops were designed and decorated
by Linda Seyfert-Reynolds. The theme
was North Florida cities and included the front
pages of the Cedar Key Beacon, clam bag
table runners and packets provided by the
Cedar Key Chamber of Commerce with information
on the area.
