Students win soil, water board contest

The Levy County Soil and Water Conservation District is happy to announce the winners of the 2011 poster contest.  This year the theme was “Forest for People, More than you can Imagine.”   

In the Kindergarten through 1st grade division: 1st place Alexandria Epperson; 2nd Tristan Sloan and 3rd Levi Brinkman, all from Cedar Key School.

In the 2nd and 3rd grade Division: 1st place Katlynn Karwan, from Williston Elementary; 2nd Natalie Stewart and 3rd Amanda Robinson, both from Cedar Key Elementary.

4th through 6th grade: 1st place Jaden Malveauy, of Williston Elementary, 2nd

Holly Bishop, from Cedar Key Elementary and 3rd LouMarie Hidaglo, of Williston Elementary.

7th through 9th grade: 1st place Marissa Phillips, of Bronson Middle School; 2nd Austin Homan and 3rd place, Ty Barber, both of Bronson Middle School.

All first, second and third place winners received a ribbon, certificate and monetary prize from the Levy Soil and Water Conservation and all 1st and 2nd place winners were entered in the Area III District competition in Live Oak. 

From there, all first place winners went to the State Competition in Ocala, during the month of August. 

We are also happy to announce that Cedar Key Elementary student, Tristan Sloan’s, poster went on to compete in the state competition, in Ocala, on Aug. 12, and placed third in his age group.
