SR Fair holding weigh in
The Suwannee River Fair weigh in schedule has been released:
• Weigh in for Feeder Steers is Friday, Dec. 6, from 3 to 6 p.m.;
• Swine tag in is Saturday, Dec. 7, from 7 to 9:30 a.m.;
• Heifer weigh in is Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon.
The Suwannee River Fair Board of Directors has created an additional weigh in/tag in period for feeder steers, heifers and swine. This will be from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 7.
This is to accommodate anyone who cannot attend the designated time due to conflicts with other activities.
According to the Fair Association’s Facebook page, the rule was changed this year to state that the exhibitor does not need to be present at weigh in/tag in. A substitute may bring the animal in without prior approval. However, the entry form must be complete — including payment and signatures.
Here is the revised rule:
“Animals must be entered at the initial and final weigh/tag-in. The steer or heifer exhibitor is required to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the directors that they are able to handle their animal safely. There are two opportunities to do this: the check in on Friday (in March) and a time to be announced on the following Saturday morning. Failure to do so will result in dismissal from the show and sale. Exhibitors must show and sell, his/her own animal unless the show committee approves an alternate.”
