Hello everyone. September is down in the books – it was a fine month for fishing and or just simply being in Cedar Key, Florida.
The rain began to let up about midway through and the second half was awesome. Even had a few cool days with some eastern and southern winds that did wonders for the water clarity. We went from poor visibility to being able to see the bottom in five-feet of water around the oyster bars. That is a good thing in my book.
October should be another great fishing month – the redfish should stay active and the trout will get better and better.
This past week was a good business week for us as we stayed at it everyday with a double booking and ran Capt. Nick one day. We met some great new families and caught up with a few repeat clients from the past few years. It really means a lot to me to see folks return over and over. This tells me that old Cedar Key and old Southern Salt Charters is doing something right. We make a pretty good duo.
Highlight of the week was new clients from the Tampa area. While kinda in a slow period of the trip, standing around scratching my head trying to figure out why they weren’t biting for me – then all of sudden, out of no where, all four anglers hooked up on redfish and boated all four. They ranged from 24-26 inches. All nice keepers. Talk about a change of events. That’s why they call it fishing (ha-ha).
Folks, that’s a wrap for this week. Get out and stay salty.
