The Levy County Schools Foundation will host its annual STARS Gala on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 6 p.m., doors open at 5:30 p.m. at Chiefland Elementary School.
STARS — Students, Teachers, and Respected Supporters - Gala was formerly known as the Superintendent’s Gala and is the non-profit Foundation’s premier fundraising event.
The date is a change as the event has been held in February.
The event has become a Levy County tradition providing an opportunity for members of the business community, civic leaders and local residents to gather in support of local education.
An exciting evening is planned with a wonderful meal, exceptional student entertainment, door prizes, a silent auction and recognition of the Foundation’s Alumni of the Year. The Gala theme this year is “Set Sail For Education: Port Levy,” with each course of the meal being provided by a different restaurant or catering business in Levy County.
Superintendent Bob Hastings, who will also serve as emcee for the evening, said, “The Gala not only raises funds, but also showcases the talent of our students, and highlights the generous and continuing support of so many corporate and small business partners, as well as local residents who want to insure our students’ academic success.”
The past Galas have raised a total of more than $109,000 to support a variety of education-related initiatives and help the Foundation expand its mission. The proceeds of the 2012 Gala will help the Foundation support the LCSF Levy County Scholarship Program which awarded over $53,000 in the past year alone. Other projects of the Foundation include: literacy initiatives, classroom and school grants, teacher, staff and volunteer recognition, supplemental support of vocational, career, and technical education, STEM initiatives, tutoring and mentoring programs.
The Foundation has established three contribution levels for the STARS Gala. All donors will be recognized at the event. The levels are:
