Reflections: Politics as usual: NOT!

-A A +A
By Thomas W. Ivines

Well, I don't have to give any personal reasons but I think we are left holding the political bag with the Presidential candidates. Actually we really don't have any.

What I'd like to see happen is a revamp of the whole primary mess. Throw those candidates out and let's start over. At least we would have a chance at something worthwhile.

Right now as far as I'm concerned, we don't have any viable candidates.

We are in changing times as evidenced by our economy, and it is the past regime that has put us there. So, for sure most of us do not want more of the same.

But to throw us to the wolves for an independent alternative is not good either.

Whatever happened to the Teddy Roosevelts, the Bully Pulpit leaders of yesteryear? Do we not have anymore? Instead we are leaning toward the left to the political rightists.

What is politically right is not always what is correct for this country. What is correct for this country is a little common sense. Does anyone know where to find any?

This coming Presidential election will be interesting to say the least to see how the country chooses between the three worst evils. No matter whom they choose, I'm afraid this country is in trouble.

I mean just how bad off do we have to get before we are forced to purge out a real Presidential leader?

In four years we will still sink to a further low. I suppose it is an unwritten law that we go all the way to the bottom before we start to rise.

Anyway, I guess you can tell I'm not too pleased with our current leaders or the upcoming President, whoever he or she may be.

I am concerned with the "hands tied behind my back" feeling. And from what I have gathered by many people who surround me, they feel much the same way. So, were do we go from here?
