The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers say there is nothing in the way of environmental impacts to keep the NRC from issuing construction and operating licenses for the two-unit Levy County nuclear plant proposed by Progress Energy Florida. The conclusion that the plant's construction and operation would pose small to moderate impacts on various aspects of the environment at the site near Inglis is the first good news in a while for the $16 billion project.
