Young people ages 5-18 living in Gilchrist, Levy, and Dixie Counties are invited to participate in a new dog project and show at the Suwannee River Youth Fair. This year, the project will focus primarily on dog obedience. Families with interested youth are invited to attend the kick-off seminar on Monday, Oct. 28, at 6:30 p.m., at the Suwannee River Youth Fair arena in Fanning Springs. Only youth and family members should come to this meeting. Please leave your dogs at home.
Youth participating in the program are encouraged to bring their dogs to weekly obedience classes at the fair arena on the following dates at 6:30 p.m.: Nov. 7, 14, 21, Dec. 5, 12, 19, Jan. 7, 14, 21, 28, Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25. This is all in preparation for the first dog show at the fair on Saturday, March 1.
Dogs should be vaccinated for rabies, distemper, hepatitis, lepto-pl and parvo before coming to the clinics.
Participants must be a member of a 4-H Club or FFA Chapter in the Tri-County Area. You can learn about joining at the Oct. 28 meeting.
