The public is invited to the Cedar Key Lions Club Speakers Night on Tuesday, Sept 22 at 7 pm.

The evening features a presentation by Lions Club Director and Distinguished Toastmaster Jim Green of Toastmasters International. Toastmasters benefit their communities by conducting the following types of programs: Youth Leadership – public speaking training for junior and high school students. Speechcraft – a short course in public speaking for adults in business, education, industry and government. Speakers Bureau – to help other nonprofit organizations and community and government groups tell their stories to the community. Gavel Clubs – bringing Toastmasters training to Gavel Club students at the Cedar Key School. Success/Leadership and Success/Communication presentations – educational modules in a how-to format on topics such as conducting productive meetings, effective listening, parliamentary procedure, evaluation, creative thinking, leadership, management and training. The Toastmasters will demonstrate a Toastmaster meeting and explain the Toastmasters program. The presentation will include Table Topics (impromptu speaking) and a Prepared Speaker and Evaluation. These and other Toastmaster terms will be explained as part of the presentation to generate interest and additional members to charter a Cedar Key Toastmasters Club in support of the Gavel Club already established at Cedar Key School.
