Introduction to monotype, inking the plate, registering the plate, transferring ink to paper, creating texture, chine colle’ and other collage. Pine Needle Basketry taught by Diane Moore, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Cedar Key Arts Center. Learn how to create a historic pine needle basket in the same way as the early Florida pioneers did. Beginning Throwing with Clay taught by Amy Gernhardt, eight nights of classes 6-9 p.m. with five mandatory appearances per student. The Cedar Key Arts Center will be available for additional practice times to enhance proficiency. A sign-up sheet for practice times will be available the first night. Students will make a piece (or at most two pieces). Limited to 10 students. This is a beginner class so we will be focusing on techniques: centering and opening, pulling up walls of cylinder, trim and clean cylinder, load bisque kiln, glaze finished cylinder, load and fire kiln.
