Shiver me timbers, it’s time for the Jolly Roger Treasure Auction, once known as the Annual Cedar Key Chamber Labor Day Auction. The auction is on Sunday, Sept. 1, with the preview at 1:30 p.m. at the Island Room restaurant.
Last year buccaneers pillaged tons of pirate booty raising $11,000 that helped the Chamber staff and keep the Welcome Center open five days a week.
The operating cost of the center is $43,000 per year – with $13,000 coming from fund raising beyond the membership dues. From Sept. 2012 to March 2013, the staff welcomed over 2,000 visitors and led them to our chamber businesses, museums and natural wonders.
Recently, the Welcome Center hosted a seminar on customer service, has assisted the city by helping them raise funds for the Fourth of July fireworks display, grown by 18 new members and added new enhancements to its website to include business space for rent.
Currently, the chamber is collecting donations for the auction that will help provide another successful auction.
We have designated different levels of contributions and ways that your business will be recognized.
