Holiday season kicks off in Cedar Key

It is official - the holiday season is underway in Cedar Key.
Friday evening, a tree-lighting ceremony took place at City Park. About 100 people
met and enjoyed the lighted and decorated cedar tree. Beverages and snacks were
available at the large pavilion in exchange for a donation to the Chamber of
Saturday evening, the festivities continued with a street dance - better known as the
“Jingle bell sock hop”. A section of Second Street was blocked off, tables and an open
dance area were available and a DJ made sure everyone’s feet kept moving.
There was no official count, but several attendees estimated that the crowd was in
the range of 50-75 people. Ages ranged from 2 years to 72 years and everyone enjoyed
the cool weather and hot tunes.
