Fishin' Report: 2013 fishing was just a little ‘off’

Hello everyone. I hope all is well and the warm weather is treating everyone right. I know for me, this time of year, I’m good with some cooler temperatures, but don’t get me wrong not cold, but cooler is okay by me.

Hey, it’s just as simple as I like to wear jeans here and there and a jacket – the same old shorts and T-shirts just get old (ha-ha).

Well, on a more technical note, when we have a mild winter or not-normally cold winter, it seems to me it changes the transition swing which makes us learn our fishing all over again. And if it changes that swing, then usually it messes with the spring swing – which we all know is most folk’s favorite time to fish. Well, 2013 was this way: mild winter with mild spring and fishing was off. Not saying it was bad, it was just off.

On a more happy note, Cedar Key will make it to the Big Screen one more time next year thanks to Southern Salt Charters and Capt. Mike and Capt. Billy of R.A.F.S. As I mentioned before, the film crew from Reel Animals Fishing Show, based out of Tampa, is a national show and will air on WFN and Fox sports. We had a few dates get rescheduled due to weather, but were able to complete this one. We will let you know the air dates as soon as they drop.

The fishing here in Cedar Key is pretty stable as we have gotten away from the cold front. The water temperatures have risen and the trout bite is on fire. The red fishing is good when the tide is right and doesn’t get blown out too far. All in all, there’s good fishing right now.

That’s all we got this week. Do what ya do, but keep it salty.
