The Cedar Key FFA placed third in the state last week at the FFA Poultry State Finals.

This was Cedar Key School FFA's first attempt at the poultry judging CDE.

The team consisted of seventh graders Emilie Lavoi and MacKenzie Kirkbride and eighth grader Nathanael Brinkman.

Lavoi lead the team in scoring and placed second individual in the entire state. Wow, way to go Emilie.

The Poultry Judging CDE consists of the following areas: a written exam about poultry production,  judging classes of live hens, interior egg grading,  exterior egg grading, judging ready-to-cook fryers (USDA standards) and parts identification.

The team will receive its trophy in June at the Parade of Champions during the state FFA convention.
