The Summer Arts Program at the Cedar Key Arts Center and Cedar Key Pottery have joined together in an effort to raise money for local Levy County residents. The food pantry in Cedar Key will be the beneficiary of the fundraiser.

Empty Bowls was started as a small endeavor and has spread exponentially. The premise is simple - feed the hungry. Various methods are used, but basically hand thrown pottery and hand crafted soup and salad is offered to members of the community, who donate money through the event, which in turn, goes to a local food pantry or other charity involved in feeding the hungry.

On Sunday, Oct. 2, Sue Reichert and Anne Miller, of Cedar Key, helped at Cedar Key Pottery to glaze bowls in preparation for a firing on Monday.

The event date is yet to be announced. Stay tuned. For more information or to help, call 352-543-9165.
