There is a saying in Cedar Key: “Don’t sniff a gift fish”, but that is what happened Tuesday morning at the Levy County School Board meeting.
Cedar Key property owner, Linda Marie Brandt-Statham owns a a vacant canal front lot on Whiddon Avenue, that she would like to donate to the school district.
The property taxes have not been paid for 2009 and 2010, totaling just under $5,000. The tax assessor’s office appraisal for the land is $90,000 while Brandt-Statham's appraiser valued it at $75,000.
