The Cedar Key Water and Sewer District board is offering a $1000 reward for anyone who has information that leads to the arrest and conviction for the person or persons responsible for the sabotaged watermain on Airport Road. Late last month Water District employees found three holes drilled into the 4-inch PVC pipe, located on the west side of the bridge. The pipe is strapped onto the bridge, outside of the concrete railing.

“Each hole was drilled to a depth just shy of the inside diameter, causing water to trickle out rather than spray out,” said Jack Hotaling, CKWSD General Manager.  “A shell was left over the drill hole, I guess to camouflage the event. We are certain that within a short time, this would have developed into a major leak and repair.”

The district wants to find the perpetrators. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the District at 543-5285, or The Cedar Key Police Department at 543-5180.
